The One Day National Seminar on “Online Teaching Strategies for Generation Alpha” was held on 21 December 2024, focusing on the modern teaching methods required to engage today’s digital-native learners. I attended the seminar along with my friends, eager to learn innovative approaches that will help us, as future educators, meet the evolving needs of Generation Alpha.

Session Highlights

Plenary Session 1:
“Teaching Methodologies – A Perfect Route and a Strong Root in Education”
by Dr. Sheila Stephen
Dr. Sheila Stephen set the tone for the day by stressing the importance of strong foundational teaching methods while adapting them to meet current educational demands. Her insights encouraged us to blend traditional pedagogical roots with modern innovations.

Plenary Session 2:
“Next-Generation Learning: Tools for Brighter Minds”
by Dr. K. Thiyagu
This session was a dynamic exploration of digital tools, AI integration, and online resources like Google that can enhance classroom teaching. Dr. Thiyagu’s practical strategies for engaging Gen Alpha learners were inspiring and left the audience with fresh ideas for technology-driven education.

Paper Presentation

From 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., paper presentations were held in the Computer Lab and ICT Resource Center. Presenters included:

Dr. T. Uma – Assistant Professor in Bio Science Education

Mr. D. Sivasubramanian – Assistant Professor of Commerce Education

Dr. A.D. Vasanthy Vinoliya – Assistant Professor of Psychology

Mr. T.D. Suresh – Assistant Professor of Perspectives in Education


One of our seniors also presented a paper during this session, adding a sense of pride and motivation for all of us.

Takeaways

The seminar was a rich blend of theory, practice, and innovation. It offered valuable insights into online teaching strategies, AI integration, and student engagement in the digital era. More importantly, it reminded us that as teachers, we must constantly evolve to inspire and connect with our learners in meaningful ways.
