The Pongal Festival was celebrated on 10th January 2025 with great enthusiasm and joy, honouring our traditional customs and cultural values. The entire college campus was filled with a festive spirit as all the trainees actively participated in the celebrations.

Pre-Preparation

On the previous day, our class trainees worked together to create a beautiful peacock-themed rangoli on one side of the courtyard, where one pot of Pongal was to be prepared. On the opposite side, another group of trainees designed a vibrant kolam for the preparation of a second pot. These colourful artworks added to the charm and set the perfect festive tone for the next day’s celebrations.

Main Day Events

On the day of Pongal, we began preparations early in the morning. I personally and joyfully took part in the making of Pongal, from arranging the firewood and setting up the pot to preparing all the materials needed for cooking. Being fully involved in the process made me feel deeply connected to our tradition, and it was a wonderful hands-on experience.

As the Pongal was being cooked in the beautifully decorated pots, a photographer arrived, and we took memorable group photos. Once both pots were ready, we gathered to offer prayers to the Sun God, following our customs with devotion and happiness.

Meanwhile, several exciting games and competitions took place, including the lemon and spoon race, Uriyadi (pot-breaking), lucky corner, and a rangoli competition. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and cheerful voices.

The celebration ended with everyone sharing and enjoying the delicious Pongal together. For me, the joy of being completely involved in the preparation, from the first spark of fire to the final serving, made it a truly unforgettable day. The event was a perfect blend of tradition, fun, and togetherness—one that will remain a cherished memory.
